ENRICHMENT:
This program is accessible to all students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Gifted/Enrichment resource teachers collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure a cooperative effort in providing enrichment activities. Lessons designed to supplement and extend the regular curriculum are provided for whole classes and for small groups of children.
Whole Class Enrichment:
The determination and delivery of whole class enrichment experiences is a collaborative effort between the gifted/enrichment resource teachers and classroom teachers. Based on student needs, other specialists may also provide services. Building on an already rich classroom environment, these lessons supplement, or extend learning beyond the classroom curriculum. Components of the program include hands-on activities that are curriculum-related and process-oriented.
Small Group Enrichment:
Services for children who show advanced intellectual skills and talents begin in kindergarten. Students are invited to participate in extended learning opportunities based on their intellectual potential, interests, and/or their need for academic challenge beyond the regular curriculum. The gifted/enrichment resource teachers collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to provide a variety of programming strategies through short term, fluid, and flexible groupings. Activities focus on specific curricular areas, problem solving, critical thinking, and/or student selected topics. Small group experiences supplement, or extend classroom activities.
ADDITIONAL ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Throughout the school year, a wide array of enrichment opportunities enhances the educational program for students at Conway. These include clubs, competitions, before/after school classes, mentorships, independent projects, assemblies, and guest speakers. In addition, many fine art opportunities are available through vocal music, art orchestra, and band. These activities foster critical thinking, leadership, creativity, and cooperation.
