The primary focus of the Learning Lab program at Conway School is to improve academic achievement. Learning Lab is available for those students who qualify for extra support and/or instruction. This program is diagnostic and its instructional services are designed to complement the school curriculum.

Students' needs are determined through testing, observation, teacher concerns, and Care Team conferences. With parent permission, a program is developed and implemented in a designated academic area. The priority of Learning Lab is in the area of reading, but support is also given in written expression, math, spelling, organization, study skills, and English language instruction. Other support services include supplying alternative materials and/or programs for classroom use, monitoring student progress in regular/alternative programs in the classroom, providing diagnostic evaluations for children with learning challenges, consulting with private tutors, and participating as integral members of the Conway Care Team.

Instruction is designed to enhance student self-esteem and to promote academic growth. This is accomplished by motivational techniques that build upon successful experiences. Instruction time is individually determined and is based on the needs of the student. This program is staffed by two full time certified teachers who collaborate with the classroom teachers to enhance student learning.
