Mrs. Brooks | Mrs. Coates | Ms. Wieck Reading This week we read the story Two Days in May by Harriet Peck Taylor. It was a fictional story about a girl, her father, and their neighbors, who stage a peaceful protest to protect five deer that have wandered into their city garden. We also made judgments about the characters’ actions. Next week, we will work on prefixes and suffixes, irregular verbs, and base words and endings.
Science Containers We are just about ready to start our next science unit. We will study about animal habitats, animal adaptations, and life cycles. For this, we observe mealworms and their life cycles. Your child will need to bring in a small plastic container from home. A small butter dish or small Gladware container works well. This needs to have a lid and four to five pin size holes in the lid. Please be sure your child brings this in within the next week or so, so they may participate in this activity!

Symphony Field Trip On Wednesday, February 8th, we will be taking a field trip to the symphony with Mrs. Walther. We will be leaving school at 8:50 am and returning around 11:00 am. Please make sure your child is at school on time that day. Valentine's Day Our Valentine’s Day parties will be on Tuesday, February 14th at 2:30pm. If your child wishes to send out Valentine’s cards, please be considerate and provide one for every student in the classroom. Also, students are encouraged to bring a container from home to hold their cards. They may decorate it and bring it the day of the party, or they may just bring a bag from home. No candy may be distributed with the valentines.
