Kindergarten Enrichment All kindergarten students are learning about animals. Small groups have already learned about snakes, bats, penguins, tigers, whales, monkeys, and insects. Some students are currently meeting to learn about polar bears. The students will learn about a polar bear's diet, physical characteristics, and more! Some kindergarten students are experiencing small-group enrichment focusing on reading and comprehension strategies. The students are creating their own story using StoryBird.
First Grade Enrichment All students in first grade completed an activity called “bleeding” pictures. The students learned to draw parts of an object to make a whole. We used "special ink" to give the pictures a spooky look!
Some students in first grade are meeting in a small-group setting to experience problem solving and logical reasoning activities. The students are exploring new learning games focusing on math, logic, and fun! Check back for updates on specific activities.
Second Grade Enrichment All students in second grade will integrate creative writing, problem solving and technology through "WeDo" robots exploration. This enrichment group will allow students to choose from three exciting themes, including amazing mechanisms, wild animals, or adventure stories, that will challenge students to work as scientists, engineers, and mathematicians through higher order thinking learning experiences. This project-based learning unit is engaging, differentiated, and just plain fun.
Some students in second grade met as a book club. The students read Ramona Quimby, Age 8, Encyclopedia Brown Boy Detective, and The Chocolate Touch.
Third Grade Enrichment Some students in third grade are experiencing small-group enrichment with a focus on social studies and writing. Fourth Grade Enrichment Currently, some students in fourth grade are experiencing small-group enrichment with a focus on skills in math, problem solving, creativity, and diversity. Some students in fourth grade met as a book club. They learned to make connections with literature. The students read the book Wonderstruck.
Fifth Grade Enrichment Currently, some fifth grade students are meeting to experience creative activities. The students are designing their own projects based on a broad topic. Check back to see pictures of their creations! Some fifth grade students created independent research projects. The students learned about the research process, trusting sources, and finding accurate information. They made some great presentations and provided us with some awesome information!
