Thank you for visiting the Ladue Middle School Nurse’s Office Website.
GOAL
Our goal is to assist students to be as well as possible at school, to help them stay at school when their health permits, and to keep them as safe and comfortable as possible, notifying their parents or guardians if they are not.
SCREENING
The Nurse’s office also assures that students are screened annually according to recently updated School Board Policy:
6th grade – vision
7th grade – hearing
8th grade – scoliosis
Other students are screened as needed. Parents, guardians and staff with concerns regarding their student’s hearing, vision or posture are encouraged to contact the LMS Nurse’s Office.
MEDICATIONS
Necessary medications are administered according to physician’s written order with written permission from parents. If your child requires medications to be administered at school, please print and complete the “meds at school” download. If he or she must carry a multi-dose inhaler such as Albuterol, Atrovent, or Xopenex at school, please complete the Inhaler Form instead. Remember that even over-the-counter meds, pain relievers, cold medicines, and prescription medications require physician’s orders.
ABSENCE
Please consult the student handbook for complete details. Briefly, students should be 24-hours without vomiting, diarrhea, or fever prior to returning at school. Students with these symptoms, or possible pinkeye / conjunctivitis, head lice, or other contagious illness should stay home from school. See “Strep letter” download for information regarding Strep Throat and Scarlet Fever.
IMMUNIZATIONS
If your student started immunizations in infancy, your child is likely to require a Diphtheria - Tetanus 10-year booster while in Middle School to meet the legal requirement to attend school. While not required by law, please consult with your health care provider regarding Pertussis, Hepatitis A, Meningococcal, and HPV vaccination in adolescence.
It is now at state requirement that all 8th graders must have had a Tdap (tetanus, diptheria and pertussis) prior to starting 8th grade and documentation of this must be submitted to the nurse's office prior to the first day of school. |
