"Bee Your Best"

Thank you for taking an interest in your child's counseling program.

Meet Your Counselor:

I am so excited to be back at Spoede this year as the second and third grade counselor.  Prior to my counseling experience here, I have taught Kindergarten, Second and Third Grade both in Missouri and Florida.  I have an Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master's Degree from Missouri Baptist University in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling.  I am married and a mother to three children ages 9, 7, and 6 months.

What Do School Counselors Do?

School counselors work in partnership with staff, parents, and the community to help students have a positive and successful school experience.  The primary focus of the school guidance program at the elementary level is prevention.  Through bi-weekly classroom guidance lessons, lunch bunch groups, and as needed individual meetings, students will participate in activities to help them understand themselves and others, understand their school environment, learn about attitudes and behaviors, gain interpersonal and communication skills, learn problem solving and decision making, develop school community, and develop skills for student success.
